Glitter and Glam to Benefit Agape Animal Rescue: July 17, 2011

Glitter and Glam is back for another year of interesting fashion and an even better cause. This year’s event takes place July 17, 2011 at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel (2100 West End Ave.) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This fashion show features doggie couture designs from Linda Higgins, complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres, a red carpet, and a first class silent and live auction. Dress is cocktail attire and all proceeds from the event benefit Agape Animal Rescue. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased here.

Join us on July 17, 2011, when Kacy Hagerty from WSMV’s “Better Nashville” will host Nashville's most unique fashion show of the year. This night of elegance will go to the dogs-literally. That's when Loews Vanderbilt Hotel will roll out the red carpet for the third annual Glitter & Glam: A Wine Tasting and Fashion Show for the Animals.

Hosted by Agape, Glitter and Glam will be held from 5-8 pm. This year's show will feature glamorous doggie couture designs from designer Linda Higgins, doggie embellishments by Come, Sit, Stay and of course, the crowd-pleasing doggie models strutting their stuff down the runway.

Plus we are expecting more than $15,000 worth of amazing silent and live auction items including: weekend retreats for your pets, fabulous art pieces, unique Nashville Predators merchandise, and much more! You will not want to miss this over the top auction! 
This is a great chance to enjoy complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres, fashion, and darling furry friends while saving rescued dogs' lives — all in one night!

Naked Without Us: Fashion & Music Festival: May 11 - May 14, 2011

Nashville Fashion Week may be over, but the fashion festivals haven't stopped! Naked Without Us is back with another year of fashionable collections by local designers and a whole lot of rock and roll! The dates are set (May 11 - May 14, 2011) and the bands are booked. Designers have yet to be released, but seriously, you won't be disappointed. Tickets are $10 for every night except Thursday ($5) and can only be purchased at the door. 

Haven't been to NWU before? Here's a little about their mission as detailed on the NWU website: 

"NAKED WITHOUT US strives to be the aesthetic heart of independent community emphasizing the rich currents of EVERYONE’S creative culture. NWU wants to empower people socially, culturally and economically through non- profit events such as fashion shows, pop-up retail and festival in aiming to build awareness of independent bands, designers, models and to continually garner coverage for YOUR community."

Many of you locals probably will receive a postcard in the mail in addition to this email within the next week, but we wanted to reach out and make sure all of Manuel's friends from all over and since way back when received this invitation. As you probably know by now--from the "For Sale" sign in front of our beloved building and the slew of deals we've thrown your way via Facebook--it's been a hard couple years her...e at Manuel's. But yet another birthday is fast-approaching (the big 78 this year!), and we've planned a special little something for everyone.

For the past 20-odd years, Manuel has hosted an annual bash--the Goliath of birthday throw-downs--at his home known infamously as the Mountain. We want to celebrate another year of Manuel and find a way to thank you, his family and friends, for your love and loyalty. In light of our hardships, however, we're switching things up a bit, and we think you all will be happy to participate.

On Saturday, April 16th, from noon til 6PM, we are having a birthday celebration with booze, tunes and rhinestones in our Midtown showroom in hopes of reviving the business. Tim Gunn to Speak at Vanderbilt: April 5, 2011

With Nashville Fashion Week in full swing and designer Christian Siriano to show tonight, how appropriate is this? Tim Gunn will be coming to Nashville on April 5, 2011 to speak on all things fashion and design. This will not be the fashion celebrity's first time in Nashville.. I remember I was at Green Hills Mall about a year ago and he was hosting some sort of event in the large space around BCBG and Kate Spade. Maybe it was another lecture? Or what to wear for spring? Either way, I just remember rounding the corner of the Godiva and saying aloud, "Oh, that's Tim Gunn."

RAW Nashville to Host Artist & Fashion Showcase: March 31, 2011

RAW Nashville hosts eclectic Artist & Fashion showcase during NASHVILLE FASHION WEEK

NASHVILLE, March 24, 2011 -- RAW: natural born artists Nashville, in partnership with Mercy Lounge in Nashville, will be presenting “ARTcade” at Mercy Lounge on Thursday, March 31st, 2011, at 7 p.m. RAW Nashville is hosting their second consecutive Artist Showcase, featuring underground talent in areas of Film, Music, Visual Art, Performing Art, Fashion, DJ and Hair/Makeup Art all within the evening’s hours.

Singer/Songwriter, Anna Johnson, will open the festivities at 8pm. Following, W.I.P., a branch from the Nashville Ballet Company, will feature choreographers dancing to a more modern/contemporary beat. RAW Host and Nashville artist, Lindsay Lawler will be performing at 9p to open the Fashion Show with collections from Jennie Vicious of Vicious Threads at 9:30pm. Chris Hurt then takes the stage at 10pm, and the band, The Slowdown closes the night at 10:30p

Throughout the evening and venue, a live gallery showing of various visual artists including Jo Sanders, Terri Fitzgerald, Juli Schumann, Chad Sugg, Kodi French, Hunt Adams, Danika Leitheiser, Barry Noland, and Dwight Williams will be lit for the public to browse during the 7-11pm hours.

Coqutte Trunk Show Featuring Judith Bright and Justine Sylvie: March 29 - April 2, 2011

More and more fashion events keep popping up in conjunction with the upcoming Nashville Fashion Week. I am loving this! And my calendar couldn't be more jam packed with fun festivities. THANK GOD this is finals week for my students, and i.e. next week I don't have to teach! Now with that being said, of course I have one million things to do to prepare for the upcoming quarter in addition to my usual load of one billion pages to read and a thousand papers to write for my Doctorate classes... but nonetheless, I may actually have some free time to hit up these siiiiiiiick fashion happenings. 

I had to give a shout out to my girl Judith Bright and their upcoming trunk show associated with Coquette and hats by Justine Sylvie. The event will take place March 29 - April 2, 2011 at the Judith Bright store in Green Hills Mall. How ridiculously fun does this look?! Annnnnd, I've seen my student who interned at JB sporting some of their latest jewelry designs, and omg, I died. Love it!!

Born and raised in Nashville, Beth "Freshie" Lawrence hand-makes her jewelry using a hammer and wire, resulting in modern, classic and geometric pieces that are beautiful in their simplicity.

Also born and raised in Nashville, Karibeth Thompson combines her passion for antiques and art through her line of one-of-a-kind reconstructed vintage jewelry, layering found vintage heirlooms to create modern statement pieces.

Nashville-based designers Jessica Maros and Kyah Hillis draw inspiration from both Victorian and global (Indian, Egyptian, Native American, Eastern European) influences for their line of jewelry, handbags and small accessories. ErosBlaine F/W Fashion Show: April 10, 2011

Congratulations to Nicole Cooley and Dylan Stephens who will be debuting their ErosBlaine F/W line April 10, 2011. Here are the details:

ErosBlaine is an emerging fashion label founded by Nicole Cooley and Dylan Stephens. 
The debut show will be held April 10th at Epic 9 (312 9th Ave. S Nashville, TN)

Doors open @ 5:30pm
Show starts @ 6:30 pm

Stay after the runway show for a meet-and-greet/presentation so everyone can interact with the fashion.

The show is open to the general public. Anyone can come!

STUFF – Vinyl and Vintage Sale: March 19, 2011

This Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Sabrose Vintage will be hosting a vinyl and vintage sale. The event will be held at 604 Gallatin Rd. #124. According to the Facebook invite, shoppers can expect a huge array of vinyl records from hip-hop, jazz, house, drumNbase, country, rock, soul, etc.. Also, Sabrose Vintage says they will be breaking into their vaults for their first blow out sale in three years.
